Meal #1- Chicken Nugget Meal

I played safe the first step of my epic journey-  chicken nuggets.  Or more accurately, "Breaded Nugget- Shaped Chicken Patties, Corn and Macaroni & Cheese Sauce."  Hard to mess up chicken nuggets, right?  "Good Source of Protein," too!

First off, let me state that I do not mind cooking for myself.  I enjoy the challenge of balancing several tasks at once.  However, when it comes to frozen meals, I expect a level of simplicity and speed.  I think I give my breaded nugget-shaped chicken patties, corn, and macaroni & cheese sauce meal a 2/10 on ease of preparation.

In picture form, the steps from unboxing to consumption:

Okay, it doesn't look like very many steps.  But I had to cut the plastic away from the chicken and macaroni sections and remove the nuggets.  Then replace the nuggets for another cooking session.  That's a lot of work.

Tastiness/Fullness/Dietary Consideration Review

The chicken patties were tasteless, but went well with ketchup.  Maybe a little soggy.  I give them a C for being average.

The macaroni miraculously smelled good and had a good texture.  Unfortunately they tasted like I walked into a salt block.  I felt my heart shudder.  D-

The corn was the best part- solid showing for frozen vegetables.  One thumbs up and one thumbs sideways because I really don't like corn unless I'm chomping it off a cob.

I give fullness one empty stomach.  The nuggets were one bite each, and the macaroni and corn were each about 3 gulps.

And the nutrition?  Let's examine the damage:

*% of daily value
Calories 320
Total Fat 15g 23%*
Cholesterol 25 mg 8%*
Sodium 630 mg 26%*

However, it was chock full of good things, too!  Lots of vitamins and protein, just as advertised.

Overall?  I give this meal a C+.  I imagine there will be worse meals, and I hope and pray there may be one to break a B-.

Welcoming Reception

Welcome!

This is the opening post to a series that I call The Banquest.  At our reception you will find the highest quality chicken filets, mac of roni and cheeses, roast turkey, and mashed beef.    Condiments are highly encouraged and vomit bags are complimentary.  Don't let the sodium level deter your eager fingers.  Dig in.

My quest is simple: I am going to eat every available variety of Banquet frozen meal and describe the experience in graphic, brutal detail.  It's a silly summer project, and I suspect the only outcome is going to be a stomach ache.

Fun fact: When I googled "Banquet", my fingers typed "bNQUET" and the first search result was the link for the Banquet web page.  I'm glad Google can compensate for my spazziness.
